Panther
Hallo Lina,
meistens findest Du die Übersetzung von Albert Ernest Fleming:
http://www.geocities.com/Paris/LeftBank ... nther.html
His gaze has from the passing of the bars
become so tired, that it holds nothing more.
It seems to him there are a thousand bars
and behind a thousand bars no world.
The supple pace of powerful soft strides,
turning in the very small circle,
is like a dance of strength around a center
in which a great will stands numbed.
Only sometimes the curtain of the pupils
soundlessly slides up -. Then an image enters,
goes through the limbs` taut stillness -
and in the heart ceases to exist.
Wo liegen die Unterschiede ? Welche Übersetzung sagt Dir mehr ? Welches vermittelt eher die ursprüngliche Aussage Rilkes ?
Viele Grüße von Paula

Hallo,
The Panther
in the Jardin des Plantes , Paris
His vision, from the constantly passing bars,
has grown so weary that it cannot hold
anything else. It seems to him there are
a thousand bars; and behind the bars, no world.
As he paces in cramped circles, over and over,
the movement of his powerful soft strides
is like a ritual dance around a center
in which a mighty will stands paralyzed.
Only at times, the curtain of the pupils
lifts, quietly -. An image enters in,
rushes down through the tensed, arrested muscles,
plunges into the heart and is gone.

- Soft padding steps of supple strenght,
turning and turning in so small a space,
are like a dance of power round a centre
where a strong will lies benumbed.
But now and then the curtain of the eyelid
lifts soundlessly —. An image enters then,
runs through the quiet tension of the limbs,
reaches the heart – and ceases to exist.

Hallo,
herzlichen Dank für die vielen Vorschläge hier . Da sieht man , was alles in Übersetzungen stecken kann.
The Panther
In the Jardin de Plantes, Paris
From seeing the bars, his seeing is so exhausted
that it no longer holds anything anymore.
To him the world is bars, a hundred thousand
bars, and behind the bars, nothing.
The lithe swinging of that rhythmical easy stride
which circles down to the tiniest hub
is like a dance of energy around a point
in which a great will stands stunned and numb.
Only at times the curtains of the pupil rise
without a sound.... then a shape enters,
slips through the tightened silence of the shoulders,
reaches the heart, and dies .

The Panther
His gaze, going past those bars, has got so misted
with tiredness, it can take in nothing more.
He feels as though a thousand bars existed,
and no more world beyond them than before.
Those supply powerful paddings, turning there
in tiniest of circles, well might be
the dance of forces round a centre where
some mighty will stands paralyticly.
Just now and then the pupils' noiseless shutter
is lifted. - Then an image will indart,
down through the limbs' intensive stillness flutter,
and end its being in the heart.

Leopard
v Jardin des Plantes, Paríž
Zrak unavilo mihotanie mreží,
čoho sa chytá, to hneď padá späť.
Zdá sa mu: Vôkol tisíc mreží beží
a za tisícmi mreží nie je svet.
Mäkký krok pružných, pevných láb, čo prejdú
v najužšom kruhu kruh, to krúženie,
je ako sila v tanci vôkol stredu,
kde veľká vôľa zmámená sa pnie.
Len zavše závoj zreníc obozretne
sa odhrnie… Dnu obraz vojde žiť,
napnuté ticho svalov vzruší, pretne…
a v srdci prestane ním byť.
